Silver lining…
29th Dec 2019. A few weeks ago I published on my social media accounts that I had donated over £600, to Cancer Research UK, supported by my art related sales. Initially I was quite chuffed as I really only started painting 3 years ago. And about 18 months ago I started selling a bit of art. Once I got over the excitement of realising that not just family but total strangers were paying £130-150 for something that I had painted. I then became a little frustrated. You see, almost £300 in total was also paid to galleries etc for commission, Etsy and credit card commissions. So I am closing my Etsy account and going to focus on channeling all my art sales via this new website and online banking. That’s why there is no shopping cart on this site, please email me for enquires.
It’s my way to give back and selling my art helps me to boost what I already donate personally to Cancer Research. In a nut shell as a two-time survivor of difficult to treat cancers, I am very aware that the only reason I am here today is because of public funded cancer research so it’s important for me to continue to donate to this crucial research. Yes, people like me who donate or fundraise on a small scale really make a difference. It all adds up! As a survivor, I feel it’s only right that I now donate to contribute to the continued medical research that will go on to save more lives.
I find it really hard year after year to go back to the same family and friends and beg for sponsorship and donations for swimming, walking and cycling challanges! So when I started painting and I started to produce some decent work… I thought to myself what will I do with it.?!? Many leisure painters sit on piles of art under beds and in the garage… So then I had my eureka moment! I’ll sell it and will be able to donate more to Cancer Research UK. It has really motivated me to keep improving my skills, in fact I’m driven to produce better and better art. ….. thanks for listening x 💜💜 💜 Check out my fundraising page!
