 Cancer Never Sleeps!

Art ■ Purpose ■ Hope

Having gone through cancer treatment twice, 10 year part, I can see the improvement in personalised cancer treatment in 2019 compared to 2009.

So much progress is being made by Cancer Research UK to find cures and improve diagnosis and develop kinder treatments.

Research and development for cures takes time and money and I hope to build awareness of the work that Cancer Research UK undertake and their impact on fighting this disease. Read about Cancer Research UK here.

Painting is a hobby and I really do donate to Cancer Research. Check out my blog - ‘Behind My Canvas’.

Occasionally I get together with friends who paint and we organise an ipaint4hope charity exhibition. For full ipaint4hope exhibition details click here.

RelayforLife

As a two-time breast cancer survivor 10 years apart, I want to do my part to support crucial cancer research. Continued funding and research is vital to finally beat this disease. My first relay as team captain of ‘Iwalk4life’ in 2014 raised over £2,000.

In 2020, I wanted to beat this total and had organised two events as captain of ‘The CureMakers’. We planned a June 2020 Summer Solstice sponsored bike ride in Rendlesham Forest and a May 2020 sponsored family and friends walk tackling Schiehallion in Scotland. Due to Covid-19 restrictions these events were cancelled.

Instead I focused on social media for fundraising. Inspite of Covid, I was humbled by the generosity of family and friends and I’m proud to report that my combined 2020/21 fundraising total for the Curemakers was £2182.86

Colchester Cancer Choir

I was proud to be a member of this super friendly choir group in 2020/21 just after my second treatment, having fun signing and supporting each other.

In 2020/21 Performances were restricted but we managed to raise £1306.20 as a team at Relay For Life Colchester. Thank you to everyone who came to our concerts and for donations received.

I regularly write blog articles. For more information about my journey and fundraising, please visit my fundraising and reflections blogs.
